Writing about family life, travel, and the small decisions that shape both.
Freelance Family Writer

About Me
I write about family life: travel, the things families buy, the way we spend our time together, and the small decisions that shape all of it.
Most coverage in this space assumes a particular kind of household and a particular kind of week. I'm more interested in the rest of it. What holds up in a full house. What works when the ages are spread out. What nobody tells you before you book, buy or go.
I come to it from two directions. I've spent more than twenty years in brand and media strategy, and I run a practice that assesses properties from a family's point of view. So I notice the specific things that decide whether something works, and I'm usually testing them at home before I write about them.
Work Experience
Now
I contribute expert commentary to national and regional publications on family life, travel and the products families actually use. Editors come to me for the view from a full house: what holds up, what quietly fails, and what nobody mentions until you are already there. I have been quoted in New York Magazine's Strategist, Parents, Glossy and Virginia Business.
Building
I have spent more than twenty years as an entrepreneur, and I co-founded a boutique PR firm that works with lifestyle, home, entertaining and family brands. Much of that work has been spent getting family-oriented founders and small brands seen, which means I have spent two decades on the other side of the pitch, learning what makes a story land. This year I started a hospitality practice that assesses properties from a family's point of view. Alongside all of it, I have been contributing as a commentator and source for years now, in small ways and steady ones, on the subjects I know best.
Where it comes from
I am a registered nurse and a trend forecaster, which is a strange pair until you notice they are both about reading signals early. And I am raising six children, which is where every idea I have about family life gets tested before it goes anywhere near a page.
